AllThingsZenCart.com
I started allthingszencart.com a long time ago as an effort to document the settings in the Zen Cart administration in a searchable form.
No Index?
There a several books published including the “official” or Zen Cart supported/approved version but I’m not impressed by anything I’ve seen. Mainly because of the lack of indexing. Most folks are wanting quick answers – where do I change this? Can I change this without touching the template? No index means you can’t find those answers in those books.
Searchable Database
So I started allthingszencart.com and I have never finished it. Now, though, with the New Year coming and potential employees and present volunteers, it has to be done. It is being done. It’s located at http://teamwiztech.com/db and eventually will be the landing page for allthingszencart.com. This searchable database will have all default admin settings with comments or extra explanations. It works extremely well and I’m using it now to speed up my work.
Also included will be all mods I’ve written whether free or paid that have not been put on ZenCart.com. Mods I normally charge for will be free to anyone who has access. And there are tutorials (not many now but that will change) and descriptions and information about Zen Cart mods. All this information is necessary for my employees (call it a brain dump if you will – had to stick my knowledge somewhere!).
Limited Access – But Either Free or a One-time Fee
So I’m offering it to my customers who are on maintenance contracts as included for free. If you are a client not on maintenance, a discounted one-time fee applies. Everyone else will pay a one-time fee. No annual recurring fees – just a one time fee for permanent access to the information. The mods alone are worth that!
If you are on my mail list for Zen Cart, I’m offering a sneak peek in my next newsletter (hint, hint, newsletter sign up here). As all the information is not in there yet, I’m not setting up payment links yet. If you are interested, just contact me.
The Prize
I’m offering discounts on future work if you find an error or can add to the explanations we’ve put in. There’s even a prize or 2 listed inside the entries where I know we need some more info. Scavenger hunt, anyone?
NOTE: 1/20/2013, AllThingsZenCart is up and running with all the admin documented.
