So version c of 1.5.7 was released last week. And I am finding nearly every single one of my new clients are coming to me with some version of westminister or sheffield blue – all free templates offered by someone who has declined to update the versions on her website or on ZenCart.com (unless you pay her for installing).

Most important takeaway from this blog is : your template must be version ready – if you have 1.5.7, you need a template that is 1.5.7 ready. In other words – there’s probably not one free template out there on the right version and is mobile responsive. A majority of the for pay templates are never updated either – cause they can’t make money to keep up with the changes.

So before you contact me or anyone else to work on your site, please check to see what version of Zen Cart you are using and then just think. How long has it been since you got that template? Where did it come from? Is the site still up? What does it say on the template? I’ll bet you will find that it says version 1.5.4. Some might say 1.5 series – but than mostly means they haven’t updated the template since 1.5.4, 1.5.5 or 1.5.6.
