The newest version of Zen Cart was released this month and there’s a another Zen Cart bit of news explained in a forum post about a scam targeting Zen Cart owners and PCI compliance. That one you can read about here: https://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?224738-Warning-Fake-solicitation-about-upgrades-for-pci-compliance
Zen Cart 1.5.6 has finally brought mobile to the admin which I know a lot of owners will be thrilled about. But (again, there is a but) there are already 2 bugs reported, one of which is not a minor thing.
So no, I do not suggest running out to install or upgrade to 1.5.6. 1.5.5 ran into multiple versions, all the way to F and I’m not suggesting you trust that this version won’t be different.
I will upgrade your site to 1.5.6 if you desire – but since I guaranteed my upgrades you will pay much more to have the upgrade done now. If you want a new site with 1.5.6, I’ll stick by my normal new site pricing (usually around $500) but I will not include upgrades or patches. Those will charged additionally as patches or incremental versions are released. Otherwise I am upgrading to 1.5.5f.
I’m settled into Maine and raring to get back into the thick of things. Contact me for work as soon as possible. January tends to be really busy so be sure your website get on my to-do list!
Note: This is kind of a mission statement of sorts. I can only work to the benefit of my customers and not to just my bottom line. So I believe honesty is always the best approach. Others will encourage you to upgrade to 1.5.6 now but it may not be in your best interests to do so. Let me look into your specific situation and guide you to the best solution!
